In telehealth sessions, your PT will take the time to listen and understand your #1 goal, analyze your movement to determine the cause of your pain, and provide a personalized and progressive plan of care. Your plan will be adapted to your environment and individualized needs. Each session, you’ll receive new and updated exercises and your PT will ensure proper form as you work through all your movements.
We understand that telehealth may be new for you, and may come with uncertainty and skepticism, so let’s address some common concerns…
Can the PT actually help without being able to touch you?
While it may seem strange to have PT without any hands-on work, the answer is 100 percent YES! Massage, manual therapy, and hands-on assessment are valuable tools in the PT playbook, but they’re not the only ones. Our doctors have training in a variety of assessment tools that allow them to gather information on what tissue or structure is causing pain and any deficits in range of motion, strength, and motor control with great accuracy — even without being hands on. We strongly believe that movement is medicine, and based on the story your movement tells, our PTs can identify and develop an action plan to get you on the right track towards achieving your movement goals.
What about the technology?
One of our unique approaches to physical therapy is t o apply data and movement science to your plan of care. That holds true with our virtual sessions as well! By utilizing a specialized software app, your PT will still be able to provide video and angle analysis. By slowing down the footage or creating angles over the video, your physical therapist can provide helpful cues and feedback in order to help you restore normal movement and control. You can also rest assured that you are still receiving the best, data-informed and researched care available...movement principles and best practices don’t change just because you’re not in the clinic! We just have to adapt our implementation.
What if you don’t have weights at home ?
Your PT can always be innovative with what you have around the house, but the good news is we can do other things to build muscle without the use of weights. Strength is primarily the product of muscle hypertrophy, which is simply the growth of a muscle when under strain. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways aside from just increasing a weight. Your PT can change the rest time between sets, alter the tempo of exercise repetitions, or adjust how many sets of exercises you perform.
What to expect during your telehealth session:
Our telehealth physical therapy sessions are 45-minutes in length, 1:1 with one of our doctors of physical therapy. Before your session, your PT will send a link to join a video call via zoom. All you will need to do is dress in comfortable athletic wear, set aside some space in your home, and make sure you are connected to the internet. It’s as simple as that!

- Education for specific impairment to avoid further injury
