Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) Training

Restore pain-free mobility, posture, and strength by redeveloping your natural movement patterns

Feel Like a Kid Again

By tapping into your built-in developmental movement software, you can rewire your body to move without restriction – the way it was designed to.  Unlock your natural movement and feel unlimited.

Restore Your Foundation

To feel amazing, you need to be able to stand, sit, squat, breathe, and move without pain and restriction.  DNS training starts from the ground up by restoring the natural movement patterns you learned during development that you’ve lost as an adult.

Individualized Training

DNS training recognizes that we all developed and learned to move differently and, therefore, can’t be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach.  Our DNS practitioners will pinpoint the exact movement patterns causing pain through comprehensive developmental movement testing and create a unique plan to restore pain-free movement and function.

Enhance Athletic
Performance

By optimizing neuromuscular coordination, core stability, and functional strength, DNS training is often “the missing link” in unlocking your athletic potential.  Elite athletes use DNS to override acquired compensation patterns that cause pain or restrict performance.

Simple Movements – Big Results

Traditional therapy has complicated movement.  Moving with ease is hardwired into your body – you just have to unlock it.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Explained

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a highly effective and innovative approach to rehabilitation and movement therapy that has been developed by integrating various disciplines, including physiotherapy, neurology, and sports medicine. DNS focuses on optimizing movement patterns by addressing the foundational role of the nervous system, muscles, and joints in maintaining proper posture, stability, and mobility. This holistic approach significantly benefits clients dealing with pain, stiffness, and a wide range of movement issues.

DNS was developed by Dr. Pavel Kolar, a Czech physiotherapist and sports scientist, in collaboration with neurologists and other healthcare professionals. Dr. Kolar drew inspiration from the study of infant development, observing that babies exhibit perfect, innate movement patterns that form the basis of functional and pain-free movement. These early motor patterns are hardwired into the human nervous system and are a foundation for lifelong movement.

Through years of research and clinical practice, Dr. Kolar and his team mapped these developmental movement patterns. They developed a system of assessment and treatment based on the principles of DNS. The DNS approach aims to restore and enhance these natural movement patterns in adults, providing a powerful tool for rehabilitation.

Our Certified DNS Providers

To become certified in DNS is no easy feat!  Certification requires three years of DNS training, completion of all the coursework, and extensive testing demonstrating proficiency in using DNS for rehab and training.

Competitive Edge stands apart because we have two incredible certified DNS providers.

Tim Dempsey

Tim is one of only 138 certified DNS trainers in North America.  He has taken extensive DNS coursework past his certification and has provided introductory DNS education to practitioners in Mexico.  Tim is also certified in Postural Rehabilitation Institute (PRI) and combines this treatment approach with DNS to achieve exceptional outcomes.

Dr. Brad Sullivan

Brad is one of only 83 certified DNS practitioners in North America.  Over the last three years, he has demonstrated his knowledge of using DNS for rehab, recovery, and sports while completing all coursework and passing a rigorous certification test in Prague.

DNS Training at Competitive Edge

Start feeling amazing today by restoring your natural movement!

Initial Movement Assessment

DNS testing involves moving through developmental movements to assess movement coordination, strength, range of motion, breathing, posture, and spinal stability.  DNS testing works to find the root cause of movement issues and pain.

Individualized Program
Development and Training

Your practitioner will use the data from your initial testing to develop a comprehensive program unique to you that’s completely different from traditional rehab.  Your DNS training will involve relearning how to breathe, sit, stand, squat, and perform as an athlete.

Movement Mastery and
Long-Term Health

After you’ve restored your natural ability to move easily, you’ll want to maintain and further develop your relearned skills.  DNS training adapts with you so you can feel your best at any age.
