Matthew Rickerts, PT, DPT
Dr. Rickerts is a graduate of the UCSF/SFSU Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. An avid baseball player, golfer, and cyclist himself, he enjoys treating athletes and has a particular focus on throwing athletes. He brought his passion for baseball to physical therapy by performing his doctoral capstone project on the use of upper extremity plyometric exercises to increase throwing velocity and reduce shoulder and elbow injuries. Using this knowledge along with his expertise in physical therapy, orthopedics, biomechanics, and strength and conditioning has allowed him to help throwing athletes reach their full potential and stay healthy.
As the newest member of Competitive Edge PT, Dr. Rickerts is excited to work next to Dr. Vandi and utilize the state-of-the-art motion analysis facility to make data driven decisions about health, recovery, and sports performance.
Matt is a Southern Californian native transplanted to the Bay Area, and attempts to visit his wonderful parents and two sisters as often as possible. He has remained a passionate Anaheim Angels and Ducks fan, and constantly reminded to remain so by his family. During his free time, he enjoys playing baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, hiking/camping, surfing, snowboarding, cycling, and pretty much any other sport or activity he can find. Never wanting to slow down himself, Matt is passionate about helping people return to their sport activity as quickly as possible using the most current concepts in rehabilitation.
